Matrix M3-1000 Proximity Detection

The Matrix M3-1000 Proximity Detection System (PDS) is an integrated safety training system for continuous miners (CM’s). The CM system uses six receivers that detect transmitters worn by support personnel. The receivers, which are strategically located and guarded to protect them from operational damage, are designed for the harsh environments of mines and other industrial applications. Personnel location and zone contact is determined using triangulation calculations by the system. Matrix PDS is easy-to-use and mine-proven.

Programmable Safety Zonesprox_zones_diagram

The Matrix PDS creates two operational safety zones. The Caution (or Warning) Zone, using highly-visible flashing lights, warns workers that they are nearing a potentially dangerous area. The Stop (or Shutdown) Zone is closest to the equipment and causes immediately shut down when a worker enters this area. Zones are programmable and can be customized to specific equipment.

Worker Transmitter

The Matrix PDS transmitter is compact, lightweight and worn by support personnel. The transmitter is MSHA-rated ‘IS’ and powered by a 14+ hour rechargeable battery.

Data Logging

Matrix PDS is the only system on the market that allows precise (X,Y coordinate) personnel traceability and data logging. The system stores a minimum 80 hours of machine operation time for analysis and in-depth training programs.

Over 100 Matrix Proximity Detection Systems have been placed into production use over the past 3 years, and are still in use, with no decline in productivity after initial operator training period.
