The system accurately detects personnel in blind spots and low-visibility areas, reducing the risk of collisions around mobile equipment in coal and other underground mines. Using patented shaped-zone technology, IntelliZone creates dynamic Caution, Shutdown and Operator Zones that automatically adjust based on equipment speed.

SharpZone™

Matrix’s patented SharpZone™ technology enables custom, precise and programmable zone shapes, including straight-line and angled detection areas tailored to specific equipment types. SharpZone helps reduce nuisance shutdowns and enhances worker protection by adapting awareness zones based on operational conditions. Zones can adjust for speed, see through obstructions like ventilation curtains, shrink during cutting or allow “green zones” where workers can work without triggering an alert.

IntelliZone’s SharpZone™ technology creates precise, speed-sensitive zones that adapt to cutting and tramming operations. Custom Operator, Caution, and Shutdown zones keep crews safe without unnecessary interruptions, while maintaining productivity in the most demanding mining environments.

Mobile Haulage


For shuttle cars and other haulage equipment, IntelliZone dynamically adjusts zones based on direction and speed, extending forward zones as machines move faster. Its ability to detect through curtains and define safe “operator zones” reduces false alarms, protecting personnel while allowing operations to run efficiently.

Stationary & Bolting


IntelliZone enhances stationary and bolting operations with shaped zones around fixed and slow-moving machinery. It can also coordinate with nearby machines to create customized zones, triggering interlocks or shutdowns when breaches occur. By leveraging the same personnel locators already used across the mine, IntelliZone delivers seamless protection without additional tagging requirements.
